Summer Workshops

Due to popular request I have decided to run two workshops during the summer holidays. They are open to all, so no previous experience required. These workshops will not be concentrating on technique, but rather will be concentrating on teaching something different. They are designed to be fun and informative, some light entertainment during summer.
Venue: Penwortham Youth & Community Centre, 3 Priory Lane, Penwortham, Preston, PR1 0AR
Time: 6.30pm - 8pm
Workshops 1: 21st August: Introducing Saidi
Saidi is one of the more masculine dances belonging to Raqs Sharki and involves the dancer using one or two sticks made of bamboo. The dance originates from Upper Egypt between Giza and Edfu. The dance is a strong and powerful one.
In this workshop, you will learn how to manipulate the stick, learn a few tricks with it, and learn how to dance with it.

Workshop 2: 4th September: Fan Veils
Fan veils are an Asian prop that are proving popular used in Belly Dance. It is worth mentioning that they are not remotely Egyptian but they are a wonderful prop to use, hence the workshop. Learn how to hold the fan veils and how to use them both as an independent item but also as part of your dance.
Both workshops cost £8 each and need to be booked in advance. However, buy a place on both workshops and get a reduced rate of £15. Included in this price are class hand-outs with notes for each workshop to enhance your learning.
There will also be the opportunity to buy a CD.
