2016

2016 has been a year of change and once again I feel that I haven't really done much, even though I have.
After teaching a Beginners Crash Course early in the year with many of the attendees showing an interest in continuing to learn, I decided to re-try regular walk-in beginners classes. So far (and I touch wood here in case I jinx it), they have proven popular, and at the moment I have a beginners weekly class which has been running for several months now.
In March I held my first hafla of the year and it was wonderful to see new faces in attendance as well as the regulars. We even had visitors from 'up North': Sunderland to be exact! We had a wonderful variety of dancers this time which is lovely to see.
Throughout the year I have been lucky enough to have been booked by several Women Institutes to give a talk on belly dance. This has been tremendous fun and I've met some lovely ladies.
As usual, Sarah Swirled performed in the Penwortham Gala which, sadly, ended up a very wet affair. Still, we all carried on dancing and smiling - what else could we do? Still, I wasn't happy to discover that I had lost my false lashes before we'd even started thanks to the downpour!
So, what's next? Well, I have a few tricks up my sleeve. We have Spookylicious coming up in October which is always fun. For the rest, you'll just have to watch this space...
