Workshops
I have experience in teaching a wide range of age groups so whether you are a school wanting to supplement your topic or a community group wanting to do something new, my workshops could be just what you are looking for. All workshops are appropriate for the ages of the attendees.
Below are a few examples of workshops that are available. However, if there is something specific which you have in mind, or you wish to discuss these options further, please feel free to contact me to discuss.
Although many people associate belly dance with women, men and boys are also invited to come along to any of these workshops.
An Introduction to Belly Dance
This workshop is ideal for anyone who has never tried belly dance before. It is a great way for groups to try something new. It will introduce you to a beautiful new dance form as well as introduce you to new music from an exotic world. I will teach you some of the basic moves found within belly dance before starting a simple choreography which is suitable for both children and adults. The choreography has been created to a lovely Egyptian pop song which is bound to make you want to get up and dance.
An Introduction to Saidi Stick Dance
Saidi is the name of a particular dance form within belly dance. It's origins go back as far as Ancient Egypt, where men were taught a martial art form used in combat. To this day, men are still seen competing within their village using sticks. These sticks, or Tahtib, are also used to train the Arab horses in the art of dressage.
In this workshop, I will show you some basic belly dance moves, how to dance with the stick, and how to wield your stick in its own right. After the basics, I will then teach you a choreography using the stick.
Because saidi is based on an old martial art form, it is the perfect dance for men and is often seen performed by one man or more. Therefore, men and boys are definitely invited to join this workshop.

An Introduction to Veil Dance
The veil is a beautiful prop to dance with. It can add grace to your dance, but it can also add drama. However, it is not as easy as it looks, and each veil can have its own set of problems. For instance, silk veils, although creating beautiful soft effects, can also fly over your head or actually land on your head which is not an elegant look. Trust me - I've tried it!
In this workshop I will show you how to hold the veil correctly, show you some moves you can dance with your veil, as well as teach you a choreography.
Previous experience is not necessary as I can cater my workshop for those attending.

Please note: If props are to be used, the space must be large enough and tall enough to accommodate that prop. If in doubt, please contact me for advice.
