Haflas

A 'Hafla' is another name for belly dance party. As a dancer, it is the perfect way to meet up with like-minded people, catch up with friends, and perform. Don't worry, you do not have to perform, but are welcome to just come along, enjoy the atmosphere and watch the performances. AND you do not have to be a dancer to attend.

Bellilicious Hafla

A traditional hafla involves music, dancing and socialising, often with food included.

I haven't yet decided on the order of things but watch this space. I am asking that all performances be done to Middle Eastern music only though.

Join me for some fun, performances, music and more.

Tickets cost just £5  each, available below.

The Stanley Club

Burscough, Near Ormskirk

Spookilicious 10!

I can't believe that we're at 10 years already! Spookilicious is the one time where I allow anything pretty much to go. Be creative, do something different, celebrate Halloween.

And, as it's a special "birthday", I'm sure there may be a few surprises too!

Further details will follow nearer the time

I try to keep my haflas fresh and exciting: trying to invite different sellers to each one, from the souk where you can buy new costumes and accessories, to the jewellery. I always have a raffle, the funds of which go to the charity Just Because, a charity which was originally set up to raise funds for a dancer who was suffering from Breast Cancer, but now raises funds for the women of Egypt with the same condition, and (sometimes) to my new charity, Welcome St Georges, a charity is specific in that it aims to raise awareness of the plight of thousands of people living in the garbage villages around Cairo. I always ask guests to provide the raffle prizes. These can be unwanted and unopened gifts or something that has been bought at low cost. I also like to provide food for those who want it.

Many dancers like to perform, and a hafla is a great way of doing this in a friendly and welcoming environment. Anyone who has attended a hafla will know that there is a diverse range of styles which always makes the performances interesting.

The venue and time is always the same (unless otherwise stated):
